2009-2010 Mississippi Select Basketball Rules |
| National Basketball Rules: |
|
All National High School Federation Rules and Regulations (NHSF) will apply to all
M.S.B. with the following exceptions. |
- All games will be played as follows.
A. In the 8U, 10U, 12U divisions
the games will consist of two fourteen minute halves. The clock will stop on all whistles.
These divisions will use the 28.5 intermediate basketball.
- Halftime shall be no longer than 5 minutes. At least a 5 minute pregame warm-up will be given
if games are running behind schedule. No games will start before their scheduled times unless
agreed to by both coaches.
- Time outs and overtimes will be awarded under NHSF rules accordingly.
- Two direct technical fouls during a game on any player, coach, or team representative will
result in the ejection from the game. Plus the individual will have to sit out the next game
of the tournament.
- Each team will be responsible for their own warmup and game balls or any other items brought
to the game. Mississippi Select Basketball is not responsible for lost items.
- If any team forfeits two or more pool games: the team will be disqualified and cannot
participate in the tournament round of play.

Roster Rules:
- Proof of age is required. Acceptable proofs of age is a clean photocopy of birth
certificates. Teams are required to have proof of age at the check-in of each tournament.
- Players can play up in an age division but not down.
- No roster additions will be permitted after the team has begun play in the tournament.
- Completed online roster and registration fees must be submitted to the M.S.B.
tournament director within the limits noted or the team will be inelgible for play.
- A maximum of 15 players will be allowed on each roster.
- Teams not registered with M.S.B. cannot play unless approved by the State Director.
- Any team violating roster or team rules will be ineligible to participate in
further tournaments.

Age Divisions and Elgibility:
- 8U Boys (Players turning 9 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be elgible
for this age division)
- 8U Girls (Players turning 9 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be elgible
for this age division)
- 10U Boys (Players turning 11 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be elgible
for this age division)
- 10U Girls (Players turning 11 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be
elgible for this age division)
- 12U Boys (Players turning 13 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be elgible
for this age division)
- 12U Girls (Players turning 13 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be
elgible for this age division)
- 14U Boys (Players turning 15 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be elgible
for this age division)
- 14U Girls (Players turning 15 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be
elgible for this age division)
- 16U Boys (Players turning 17 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be elgible
for this age division)
- 16U Girls (Players turning 17 years old before September 1, 2008 will not be
elgible for this age division)
Players can play only in one age division per tournament. |

Elgibility Protests:
All protests must be filed and accompanied by $100.00 protest fee (refundable if
the protest is upheld) with the tournament director before the game starts. If
the protest is valid, the protested team forfeits all previous games. Tournament
Director's ruling on protests are final. If elgibility protests, team must present
required proof of elgibility.

Mercy Rule:
Once a team is leading by 30 points anytime in a game, the clock will not be stopped
for whistle stoppages. If the lead goes below 20 points the clock will be stopped on all whistle stoppages

Notes:
- Individual awards will be given to champion & runner-up teams at each Mississippi Select Basketball Events.
- Each tournament will have a 3 game guarantee.
- Mississippi Select Sports will not be responsible for any accidents at Mississippi
Select Basketball events.

Pool Placing and Tie Breakers:
- Pool Win Loss Record
- Teams will be seeded in tournament based on their pool placing
- Ties are broken by head to head competition if two teams are tied.
- If three teams or more tie with the same record, the tie will be broken by fewest
points allowed. If that doesn't break the tie then it will go by points differential.
- The Tournament Director's decision is final regarding placement of any teams.
